Raising a child in the spotlight is no easy task, but Shweta Tiwari has done it with grit, grace, and grounded parenting. Shweta opened up in a recent interview about how she raised her daughter, actor Palak Tiwari, with firm rules and financial discipline.
Firm House Rules and Curfew Protocol
In a conversation on Bharti TV’s YouTube channel, the actress shared that while she wasn’t overly strict, she maintained clear rules at home. Palak Tiwari followed a firm curfew and was expected to be home at the promised time. Shweta ensured she had contact details of Palak’s friends and their mothers, ready to reach out if her daughter’s phone was unreachable. She also kept track of Palak’s location, making sure she was safe and accountable while stepping out.
No Phone or Makeup Until the Right Age
Shweta admitted she was always a bit concerned for Palak’s safety, especially because of societal challenges. Despite Palak not drinking alcohol, Shweta was aware that people around her did. To maintain control and protect her daughter, she didn’t allow Palak to use makeup until the age of 16 and withheld giving her a phone until she completed her schooling.
Chores for Extra Cash
She also shared that she taught Palak the value of money by linking extra spending to household chores. Palak was given a set monthly budget—if she exceeded it, she had to earn the difference by helping around the house. There was even a fixed rate for each chore: ₹1000 for cleaning the bathroom, ₹500 for making the bed, and ₹1000 for doing the dishes. Knowing the system, Palak would often complete extra chores in advance if she anticipated going over budget.Tiwari revealed that ever since Palak started earning, she has been managing and investing her daughter’s income. She ensures only a limited amount stays in Palak’s account, while the rest is directed into savings and investments. Shweta also involves Palak in the process by making her sign cheques and banking documents, teaching her financial responsibility and the importance of long-term planning.
