Marathi star Addinath Kothare has joined the cast of Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated epic Ramayana, taking on the role of Bharat. As excitement builds around the star-studded project featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, Kothare’s entry adds further depth to the mythological saga that promises both cinematic spectacle and spiritual resonance.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the actor expressed his gratitude for being cast in what he described as “the biggest film made on Indian soil.” He credited casting director Mukesh Chhabra, director Nitesh Tiwari, and producer Namit Malhotra for trusting him with the pivotal role of Bharat—Lord Ram’s devoted brother in the epic. Kothare called it a blessing to be part of a project of such scale and significance.

Kothare is a National Award-winning actor and filmmaker known for his work in Marathi cinema. He was recently seen in The Royals and has been part of acclaimed films like Paani, Avatarachi Goshta, Nilkanth Master, and Chandramukhi, among others.Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part epic, with Part 1 slated for release on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 following in 2027. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The ensemble cast also includes Lara Dutta, Sheeba Chaddha, and Arun Govil in pivotal roles. Adding to the grandeur, the film’s score brings together A.R. Rahman and Hollywood legend Hans Zimmer, marking Zimmer’s Bollywood debut.
