Mouni Roy has opened up about the reality of her career post-Brahmastra, admitting that the big opportunities she expected after the film never came her way. In a candid interview, the actress reflected on being left out of key casting discussions, why it happens in the industry, and how she’s kept her career thriving despite the setbacks.
Opportunities that didn’t materialise
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Mouni shared that despite expecting more opportunities after Brahmastra, many key casting discussions didn’t include her. While the reasons were unclear, she emphasised that her career stayed active with projects like Sultan of Delhi, Showtime, and Salaakar on OTT, hosting Temptation Island, judging reality shows, performing dance numbers, and maintaining a packed schedule.
She also mentioned that she chose not to let the situation bother her, believing that opportunities come only at the right time. For her, it’s pointless to worry or lose sight of everything she has achieved and the doors that have already opened in her career, as feeling sad about it would be a sign of ingratitude.
Why her name wasn’t in the room
Explaining why she believed her name wasn’t part of many casting discussions, Mouni noted that in films, actors are often the last link in the chain. Scripts, production houses, budgets, and logistics are decided first, while directors and casting agents consider multiple options.
